About the opportunity

The Faculty of Pharmacy is seeking two academic staff at Lecturer level to lead outstanding research programs within the broad area of pharmacy practice, working in one of the five research themes of cancer, cardiovascular and diabetes, health services and patient safety, mental health, and respiratory disease.

Areas of expertise in pharmacy practice across these research themes include but are not limited to clinical pharmacy; pharmacotherapeutics; health services research; quality use of medicines; patient-centred care including written medicines information and professional pharmacy services like medication and chronic disease management.

As an inspirational teacher in areas that intersect the research themes and learning and teaching requirements of pharmacy students, you will guide the faculty to maintain and further improve its international reputation in both pharmacy practice teaching and research.

These are full-time continuing academic career opportunities at a premier Faculty of Pharmacy that will allow you to develop independent research and to display research leadership for the faculty. You will also contribute to research-enriched learning and teaching activities of the faculty and to faculty administration and engagement with the pharmacy profession and the community. You will join a vibrant and high-achieving faculty that trains approximately 20 percent of all pharmacists in Australia.

About you

The University values courage and creativity; openness and engagement; inclusion and diversity; and respect and integrity. As such, we see the importance in recruiting talent aligned to these values in the pursuit of research excellence. We are looking for a Lecturer who has:

  • a PhD in a relevant field of pharmacy practice and expertise in pharmacy/pharmacy practice
  • international postdoctoral experience at a reputable university or research institution
  • be registered or be eligible for registration as a pharmacist in Australia with contemporary practice experience
  • demonstrated contributions to independent as well as collaborative research with evidence that this research has had impact in and/or beyond the field of pharmacy
  • publication record in high-quality (ERA recognised) international journals in the field of pharmacy/pharmacy practice or related cognate disciplines
  • the ability to teach within the broad area of pharmacy practice in both undergraduate and postgraduate professional pharmacy courses (Bachelor of Pharmacy, Bachelor of Pharmacy and Management and Master of Pharmacy)
  • the ability to establish independent and collaborative research programs in any area of pharmacy/pharmacy practice that complements and adds to existing research strengths of the faculty in its five research themes
  • evidence of plans for research programs that will attract nationally competitive research funding or consultancies
  • the ability to embrace cultural change and to embody a collaborative and cooperative ethos in all aspects of academic life.
