The University of Kansas Department of Medicinal Chemistry seeks to fill two tenure track faculty positions at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level to commence by August 2018. Consideration will be given to applicants with backgrounds in medicinal chemistry and/or chemical biology as broadly defined.

Faculty members in the department are expected to
40% 1) initiate, organize, direct and maintain a vigorous program of research in medicinal chemistry or chemical biology (broadly defined) leading to external grant support and research publications in leading peer reviewed journals,
40% 2) teach and mentor graduate and professional students in the School of Pharmacy,
20% 3) participate collegially in the regular academic and service activities of the Department of Medicinal Chemistry.

*Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. and research training in medicinal chemistry, chemical biology or closely related fields. Closely related research-based degrees such as D.Sc. are also acceptable.
  • Outstanding ability in basic research at the interface of chemistry and biology as evidenced by publications and letters of recommendation.
  • Well-developed plans for initiation of a vigorous and externally funded program of research in medicinal chemistry, chemical biology or a closely related field that complement current research in medicinal chemistry and chemical biology at the University of Kansas (
  • Potential or demonstrated ability in effective teaching at the graduate, undergraduate and/or professional levels.
  • Ability to relate and communicate effectively with colleagues, administrators, students and other research personnel.
    Highly qualified applicants with previous academic experience may be considered for appointment at the rank of associate or full professor and for appointment with tenure
