The Assistant Dean for Student Affairs (ADSA) reports to the Dean and serves on School of Pharmacy (School), College, and University committees. The ADSA is responsible for the oversight of student affairs (co-curricular student activities, orientation week, career fair, recognition ceremony, student progression, student senate, and student organizations) within the School. The ADSA is responsible for managing the admissions process and student matriculation. In addition, the ADSA is responsible for faculty guidance regarding student advising and student organization advising.


  • Serve on School’s Executive Committee (EC) and Deans Meeting to discuss the operation and development of policies and procedures
  • Provide guidance and supervision, coordinating with the Assistant Director for Graduate Admissions-Pharmacy, in the ongoing improvement and management of the admissions process
  • Act as administrative liaison in the Admissions Committee, Student Progression Committee, and Alumni and Marketing Committee to provide guidance in the implementation of the committees’ duties and plans
  • Actively participate in the admissions process including interview selection, interviewing, recommendations, admissions notification, matriculation, and orientation
  • Update and maintain Student Handbook and Student Organization Handbook
  • Assist faculty, staff, and students in understanding student policies/procedures
  • Coordinate student events as directed by the Dean
  • Oversee the Administrative Assistant and Admissions & Experiential Strategist by working collaboratively in support of student activities and events
  • Provide guidance and resources for faculty on student advising and student organization faculty advising
  • Teach approximately 20-30 contact hours per year
  • Collaborate with other university units in the areas of student affairs
  • Perform scholarship, commensurate with the administrative appointment, in their areas of expertise
  • Be actively engaged in service to the community and pharmacy profession

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum education requirement is a doctorate degree. Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from an ACPE-accredited program and/or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) are preferred
  • Minimum of four years of experience in academia (pharmacy academia and relevance to student affairs is preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience or training in student affairs
  • Prior service to community or pharmacy profession
  • Demonstrated strong contextual understanding of pharmacy profession
  • Demonstrated excellent teaching skills
  • Possess a record of scholarly accomplishment and productivity, ideally related to student affairs
  • Demonstrated excellent leadership, written and verbal communication, and teamwork skills
  • Highly organized, strong problem-solving and decision-making skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Post-graduate training (post-doctoral, fellowship, residency)

WORKING CONDITIONS: Office environment in LEED Gold certified building. Teaching schedules will be arranged to meet the needs of students. Summer teaching opportunities may be possible as part of a typical workload.
