The University of New Mexico College of Pharmacy is seeking exceptional applicants to join our faculty. This is a full-time Assistant Professor, open track position for individuals ideally specializing in one of the following clinical practice areas: Psychiatry, Psychiatry with subspecialty in Substance Abuse, Oncology, Oncology with subspecialty in Pharmacogenomics. Other therapeutic and clinical areas may be considered for excellent candidates.

Duties of the Positions

o The successful candidate in a Clinician Educator track position will establish an active clinic site that will also serve to precept APPE students (50% effort). In addition, faculty member is expected to mentor pharmacy residents as appropriate. Academic responsibilities also include teaching in the didactic professional curriculum (30% effort). Candidate will also be expected to contribute to the scholarly and service missions of the College (20% effort). Additional responsibilities include contributing to the vision, mission, and strategic plan of the College; mentoring, supervising and evaluating the activities and performance of students, residents, and support staff as appropriate. The individual will be expected to collaborate with other faculty and share the University and College’s values

o The successful candidate in a Tenure Track position will be expected to establish an actively funded research program (60% effort), teach in the didactic professional curriculum (30% effort), and contribute to the service mission of the College (10% effort). Additional responsibilities include contributing to the vision, mission, and strategic plan of the College; mentoring, supervising and evaluating the activities and performance of students, residents, and support staff as appropriate. The individual will be expected to collaborate with other faculty and share the University and College’s values

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
 Earned Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE accredited institution or a Relevant Doctor of Philosophy Degree (for tenure track position)
 Completed post-doctoral residency (PGY2) training or equivalent experience (for Pharm.D. applicants)
 Research experience in your area of practice (for tenure track position)
 Evidence of University teaching experience
 Licensed or eligible for licensure as a pharmacist in the state of New Mexico (applicants with a Pharmacy degree).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS CLINICIAN EDUCATOR or FLEX TRACK:
 Years of experience working in area of specialty
 Excellent written and verbal communication skills
 Experience with teaching in a variety of settings (e.g. small group, large group, skills-based laboratories, etc.)
 Evidence of scholarship
 Board certification in an area recognized by the Board of Pharmacy Specialties
 Licensed or eligible for licensure as a Pharmacist Clinician in New Mexico
 Evidence of service in a State or National professional organization

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS TENURE TRACK:
 Evidence of scholarship activities (such as published manuscripts, posters, presentations at national meetings, extramural funding)
 Previous grant submissions and potential for obtaining future extramural funding.
 Excellent written and verbal communication skills
 Demonstrated success working in a multi-disciplinary research environment
 Additional post-doctoral training
 Experience with teaching in a variety of settings (e.g. small group, large group, skills-based laboratories, etc.)
 Evidence of service in a State or National professional organization

A Profile of the UNM College of Pharmacy
Located in the historically rich and culturally diverse Southwest, the College of Pharmacy is part of the Health Sciences campus and works collaboratively with the School of Medicine, College of Nursing, UNM Hospitals, and UNM Cancer Research and Treatment Center in the state’s largest health complex. The College holds the distinction of having the most ethnically diverse student body in the nation. Unique programs within the College include the New Mexico Poison and Drug Information Center, UNM/NMSU Cooperative Pharmacy program, and the oldest training program in nuclear pharmacy in the country.

UNM offers exciting opportunities for interprofessional practice, research, and education. The College has 53 faculty and 474 preceptors throughout the state. Strong partnerships with the New Mexico Pharmacists Association, New Mexico Society of Health-System Pharmacists, and the New Mexico Board of Pharmacy have created disease state management programs and innovative practice opportunities including pharmacist clinicians with prescriptive authority.

The College ranks 13th in NIH research funding and 21st in overall research funding among the colleges of pharmacies in the United States. Faculty collaborate extensively across the university as well as Los Alamos National Laboratory, Sandia National Laboratory VA Cooperative Studies Program, Lovelace Respiratory Research Institute, and the MIND Research Network.

In addition to a stimulating academic environment, the College is located in Albuquerque, in the Sandia Mountain valley. With more than 310 days of sunshine a year, Albuquerque has year round recreational opportunities and more than 28,000 acres of open space.
