Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences
University at Buffalo
The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, within the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University at Buffalo, The State University of New York, seeks two tenure-track faculty members with expertise in the development and evaluation of novel protein constructs or biologically-based drug delivery systems.
The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences (http://pharmaceuticalsciences.buffalo.edu) is strongly research-oriented, with 20 faculty members from diverse scientific disciplines who share common interests in discovering, developing and optimizing drug therapies. Our research and graduate education programs span diverse aspects of small molecule and protein drug discovery and development through multi-disciplinary research in experimental therapeutics, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, mathematical modeling, drug delivery, drug metabolism and transport, pharmacogenomics, systems pharmacology, and drug analysis.
We seek faculty members with a record of excellence in scholarly activity, particularly peer-reviewed extramurally-funded research, and interest in interacting with other academic and research programs. Successful candidates must have a PhD or other doctoral degree in pharmaceutical sciences, biomedical sciences, or engineering and have completed postdoctoral training in a relevant field. Experience in the development and evaluation of novel protein constructs (e.g., antibody fragments, bi- or tri-specific antibodies, fusion proteins, or antibody conjugates) or biologically-based gene and drug delivery systems (e.g., exosomes, viruses, bacteriophages, or mammalian cells) is desired.
Available resources include state of the art computational and bioanalytical facilities, laboratory space at the recently constructed Kapoor Hall, and access to resources of the University’s Academic Health Center, which includes Schools of Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Public Health and Health Professions, and Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences.
The Department is part of the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, which was founded in 1886 and is accredited by the American Council of Pharmaceutical Education (current accreditation period is through June 30, 2020). The University at Buffalo is the State University of New York’s largest and most comprehensive research-intensive university, and is its primary center for professional education and training, as well as a member of the Association of American Universities. The University at Buffalo is a member of the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus (BNMC), a consortium of the region’s leading health care, research, and medical education institutions. The BNMC is dedicated to the development of world-class medical environment for clinical care, research, education, and entrepreneurship.
