School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (SPPS) Department of Pharmacy Practice is seeking a clinical-track (qualified rank), 12-month faculty member at the assistant, associate, or full professor rank to direct and coordinate all pharmacy practice teaching laboratory/skills activities across the SPPS PharmD Program.
Responsibilities include:Teaching:The faculty member will engage in curriculum planning and assessment of laboratory/skills activities in the school’s newly designed integrated curriculum. They will coordinate all practice laboratory/skills activities across the curriculum, including sterile/non-sterile pharmacy compounding, practicums, low-stakes teaching objective structured clinical examinations (OSCEs), low/high-stakes OSCEs, and certificate programs. They will be responsible for training faculty, adjunct faculty, and resident/fellow/student teaching assistants, as needed, to execute these activities. The faculty member will be expected to provide didactic teaching, as agreed to with the Chair of the Department of Pharmacy Practice. The faculty member will also be expected to maintain a shared clinical practice site in their area of expertise, where they will train pharmacy students and postgraduate residents/fellows. It is estimated that teaching (didactic + experiential) will represent 60-70% of the faculty member’s effort distribution.
Research/Scholarship:The faculty member will advance the educational research mission of the UB SPPS. They will develop an independent research program in their area of expertise and will publish/present their work nationally/internationally. It is estimated that research/scholarship will represent 10-20% of the faculty member’s effort distribution.
Service:The faculty member will serve on key school/department committees, including but not limited to Curriculum, Outcomes & Assessment, and Experiential Education. They will work collaboratively with course coordinators/directors in the departments of Pharmacy Practice and Pharmaceutical Sciences and will be responsible for mapping the laboratory/skills activities of the new integrated curriculum. As part of their practice laboratory duties, the faculty member will serve as Supervising Pharmacist for licensed spaces in the UB SPPS and will oversee procurement of equipment/materials needed for the practice labs. The faculty member will also be expected to engage in admissions reviews/interviews and student advising. It is estimated that service will represent 10-20% of the faculty member’s effort distribution.
