The University of Minnesota’s College of Pharmacy, Duluth campus, Department of Pharmacy Practice and Pharmaceutical Sciences (PPPS) invites applications for the position of Assistant/Associate Professor. The successful candidate will collaborate with members of other disciplines, schools, centers and research groups at the University to advance our capacity to make significant contributions to issues related to American Indian, Alaska Native, and/or First Nations (AI/AN/FN) Health. The candidate is expected to develop collaborative relationships with regional American Indian/First Nations communities, focus on health issues identified as important to these communities, and lead the development of interdisciplinary teams focused in one or more of these areas as they relate to AI/AN/FN Health. We also seek individuals who can contribute to the instruction and mentoring of Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) and graduate students in an area consistent with their research emphasis. Opportunities to teach and mentor graduate students in the Social and Administrative Pharmacy program or other relevant graduate programs can be explored based on the individual’s interest and expertise. Providing committee and other service to the Department and College is also expected.
Candidates must possess an earned doctorate (e.g., Pharm.D., Ph.D, MD or equivalent), experience engaging in relevant scholarly work, an established research program (or demonstrated potential to establish such a program), a record of mentoring and training, evidence of current or potential extramural funding commensurate with appropriate faculty level, and demonstrated experience in a disciplinary field synergistic and complementary with the profession and practice of pharmacy. The ideal candidate will complement and advance PPPS’ existing expertise in the areas of community-based participatory research, population sciences, pharmacogenomics, cultural safety, substance abuse/opioid disorder, diabetes/cardiovascular disease, oncology, neurological/psychological disease and geriatrics/pediatrics. The candidate should possess excellent teaching and communication skills and be eligible for appointment at the appropriate faculty rank at the time of employment. Demonstrated experience in at least one of the PPPS existing expertise areas is preferred.
