Position Summary
The School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University at Buffalo, The State University of New York, with funding from the SUNY Empire Innovation Program, seeks a senior faculty member in the area of Translational Medical Research – Systems Pharmacology for the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences. The Department seeks to extend its longstanding distinction and a rich history of excellence in the disciplines of pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, quantitative pharmacology, and pharmacometrics.

The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences (http://pharmaceuticalsciences.buffalo.edu) is strongly research-oriented, with 20 faculty members from diverse scientific disciplines who share common interests in discovering, developing and optimizing drug therapies. Our research and graduate education programs span diverse aspects of small molecule and protein drug discovery and development through multi-disciplinary research in experimental therapeutics, mathematical modeling, drug delivery, drug metabolism and transport, pharmacogenomics, systems pharmacology, and drug analysis.

We seek a faculty member with a record of excellence in scholarly activity, particularly peer-reviewed extramurally-funded research, and interest in interacting with other academic and research programs. The successful candidate must have a PhD or other doctoral degree in pharmaceutical or biomedical sciences, translational science, or engineering and have strong academic credentials expected for the rank of either Associate or Full Professor of Empire Innovation. An internationally recognized research program in translational medical research, systems pharmacology, pharmacokinetics / pharmacodynamics, and/or pharmacometrics is expected. The successful candidate should offer a strategic vision in systems modeling, provide leadership in scientific innovation, and will be expected to contribute to the educational and research missions of the department, School, and other SUNY academic units.

Available resources include state of the art computational and bioanalytical facilities, laboratory space at the recently constructed Kapoor Hall, and access to resources of the University’s Academic Health Center, which includes Schools of Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Public Health and Health Professions, and Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences.

The Department is part of the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, which was founded in 1886 and is accredited by the American Council of Pharmaceutical Education (current accreditation period is through June 30, 2020). The University at Buffalo is the State University of New York’s largest and most comprehensive research-intensive university, and is its primary center for professional education and training, as well as a member of the Association of American Universities. The University at Buffalo is a member of the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus (BNMC), a consortium of the region’s leading health care, research, and medical education institutions. The BNMC is dedicated to the development of world-class medical environment for clinical care, research, education, and entrepreneurship.

Buffalo is the second-largest city in New York State and is located in the western region on the shores of Lake Erie, upriver of the majestic Niagara Falls. Buffalo – the City of Good Neighbors – is a large city with a rapidly growing economy, vital academic health sciences center, and modest cost of living. The educational system is excellent. Minimum Qualifications
PhD or other doctoral degree in pharmaceutical or biomedical sciences, translational science, or biomedical engineering with strong academic credentials in the areas of translational medical research and systems pharmacology including extramural research funding, and interest in interacting with other academic and research programs.

Preferred Qualifications
Above plus the offering of a strategic vision in systems modeling, leadership in scientific innovation, and ability to contribute to and expand the educational and research missions of UB and other SUNY academic units.
