The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences within the College of Pharmacy at Mercer University, located in Atlanta GA, invites applications for a full-time faculty appointment at the rank of instructor. The incumbent will hold a twelve-month non-tenure track departmental appointment with sole responsibilities in teaching and service. Teaching responsibilities will include topics broadly related to the pharmaceutical and biomedical sciences within both the Pharm.D. and Ph.D. programs. Administrative responsibilities will include service needs at the Department and College levels.
The College of Pharmacy is located on Mercer Universitys Cecil B. Day Graduate and Professional campus in Atlanta, GA, and is one of the four academic units within the Mercer University Health Sciences Center. Mercer University is a nationally ranked R2 research university and the oldest private university in the State of Georgia. The university and college have a deep commitment to excellence in teaching and supporting excellent outcomes in our students. The department is composed of collegial faculty colleagues who are eager to collaborate on teaching endeavors. The university has publically announced the near-term construction of a new pharmacy building, which will be outfitted with state-of-the-art teaching technology, including space specifically designed to facilitate advanced and evidence-based pedagogical approaches. Modern office and instructional design space will also be available. Atlanta is a cosmopolitan world-class city with a diverse population, mild weather, extensive cultural amenities, and a relatively low cost of living.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in pharmaceutical or biomedical sciences, or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution and a minimum of six months of full-time teaching experience, preferably within a college of pharmacy. Preference will be given to those with a pharmacy background. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are absolutely essential.
