The University of Kentucky (UK) College of Pharmacy Department of Pharmacy Practice and Science is seeking a nationally recognized scholar to serve as Chair.
The successful candidate will have a strong record of scholarly output and research funding; demonstrated success in promoting excellence in research and graduate education, scholarship, and teaching; a keen understanding of contemporary pharmacy practice and the diverse clinical practices roles of pharmacists; and strong leadership and interpersonal skills. The Chair serves as the academic and administrative leader of the Department and is vital in providing leadership to meet the College’s
vision to boldly lead collaborative innovation that improves health and
mission to provide innovative education, conduct pioneering research, deliver cutting-edge clinical practice, cultivate inclusivity, and lead change to improve health in our communities and beyond.
The Department consists of 17 tenure-track and 15 clinical faculty, many adjunct faculty, and hundreds of affiliate voluntary faculty preceptors. Department faculty coordinate, teach and mentor students in the
Doctor of Pharmacy curriculum and in the College’s
Graduate Master’s and PhD programs in Pharmaceutical Sciences. Additionally, Department faculty are engaged in innovative research and clinical practice activities as faculty affiliates in the College’s
Institute for Pharmaceutic Outcomes and Policy, the
Center for the Advancement of Pharmacy Practice, UK Chandler Medical Center, and numerous external affiliate partners. As Department faculty demonstrate excellence within a wide range of activities and expertise, the Department requires a Chair who can support these diverse profiles and academic career paths, and lead growth in faculty research initiatives and success in securing extramural funding in alignment with the College’s
Strategic Plan.
Applicants must have a Doctor of Pharmacy and/or a PhD degree in a relevant discipline and have a solid record of accomplishments in research, teaching, and service commensurate with an academic appointment at the rank of Full Professor. Prior administrative experience is desirable but not required. We are especially interested in candidates who are passionate about contributing to our
