  • Research Assistant Professor
    Pharmaceutical Sciences

    The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences is looking for a Research Assistant Professor with a focus in pharmaceutical chemistry. The applicant should have a demonstrated record in research and teaching in analytical chemistry as well as an active research program in the total synthesis and testing of natural products. Each faculty member in the department is expected to perform the full range of responsibilities: teaching, research and service.

    Duties and Responsibilities include:


    • Teaching assignments in the department involve any introductory, intermediate or advanced courses as the demands of the course registration and scheduling may require and are made by the Department Chair in consultation with the Division Head and faculty. The Chair’s expectation is that you will contribute to teaching in the undergraduate, PharmD and graduate programs, and serve as course coordinator and instructor for suitable courses for undergraduate, PharmD and graduate students. An initial assignment is in teaching and supervising several hands-on labs in PHC 521, Pharmaceutical Analysis. Active engagement in mentoring graduate students is an expectation.

    • Service assignments are made by the Chair and Division Head and involve serving on departmental, school and university committees, including serving as departmental seminar chair. The expectation is that you will contribute to the scientific community through service on scientific review boards, journal advisory boards, and active participation with scientific/professional organizations, as time permits.

    • Research. We expect you will actively seek resources from outside the University to support your scholarly activity and research activities, and that you will eventually establish and maintain an extramural-funded research program. This includes one or more peer-reviewed grant applications during the first year.
