The Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (EACPHS) at Wayne State University (WSU) is seeking candidates for Chair of the Department of Pharmacy Practice. The individual will lead the Department, which has 33 faculty members and a comprehensive network of outstanding adjunct faculty. The Department has affiliations with numerous area health systems and community pharmacy organizations in Southeastern Michigan, an area recognized nationally for progressive pharmacy practice. The Department’s vision is to advance the practice of pharmacy and improve health outcomes through meaningful and innovative research, teaching and service.

The Chair is expected to provide leadership to enhance the growth and development of scholarship, teaching, and service programs within the Department and contribute to the success of the Pharmacy division. The Chair will be responsible for faculty development, mentoring, and evaluation, along with faculty practice site, teaching, and service assignments. Oversight of experiential education is provided by the Chair through direct supervision of the Director of Experiential Education. The Chair will provide overall department management and participate in teaching, scholarly activity and service provision. The Chair will also be part of active engagement with alumni.

As a member of the Pharmacy Executive Council, the Chair will work closely with the Associate Dean of Pharmacy, the Chair of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and the Dean of the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences to administer the Doctor of Pharmacy Program.

Applicants should have a Doctorate degree or other equivalent academic degree, extensive experience in pharmacy education and excellent communication, leadership and organization skills. Potential candidates should have an accomplished record of excellence in scholarship, teaching, and service, which merit appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor and be eligible for pharmacist licensure in the state of Michigan.
