Dr. Goad’s research program focuses on the social and behavioral aspects of consumer and healthcare professional’s decision making process and outcomes related primarily to immunizations and travel medicine. He uses focus groups and the modified Delphi technique to identify areas of discordant beliefs and areas of consensus to better guide population based studies. Using online conditional logic based surveys, various population based public health models, including the Health Belief Model and Knowledge, Attitudes, Beliefs and Practices (KABP), are employed to explore problems in healthcare delivery or needs assessment planning for healthcare resource utilization. In addition, Dr. Goad uses retrospective database mining primarily to validate social-behavioral findings or to conduct patient care program outcomes evaluations. The goal of his research is to bring a better understanding of the value of immunization and travel medicine and the contribution of pharmacists to these preventative health services.
