Evaluation of the functional expression of drug metabolizing enzymes and transporters in humans, clinical pharmacokinetics, and the development of novel analytical techniques. His primary research focuses on studying the impact of kidney disease on pathways of nonrenal drug clearance, particularly those mediated by cytochrome P450 enzymes and P-glycoprotein and organic anion transporting polypeptide transporters, as well as identifying mechanisms by which kidney disease contributes to alterations in these elimination pathways.
