Development of fetal behavioural states, including neural, respiratory and cardiovascular parameters. Current work focuses on fetal adaptations to a low oxygen environment and the effects of fetal growth restriction. Development of the cardiovascular system during growth restriction is of particular interest with projects investigating the regulation of blood pressure and heart rate as well as development of the heart. I am expanding my training in large animal surgery and physiological monitoring to include the use of cell culture, immunocytochemistry and flow cytometry to better understand normal development of heart cells and the effects of growth restriction on heart cell development. Studies are also investigating the effects of fetal growth restriction on the development of fetal behavioural state
