Dr. Carl Asche is the Director of the Center for Outcomes Research at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria, where he is a Research Professor of Medicine (Peoria) and Pharmacy Systems, Outcomes & Policy (Chicago). He is also an affiliate member of the University of Illinois at Chicago Center for Pharmacoepidemiology and Pharmacoeconomics Research, and a research affiliate of the University of Victoria Centre on Aging. Previously he was Associate Research Professor of Pharmacotherapy and Director of Graduate Studies and Fellowships at the University of Utah College of Pharmacy. He has held managerial positions for the Bristol-Myers Squibb Pharmaceutical Group and Aventis Pharmaceuticals where he managed health economics and outcomes research applied to both research and development and customer marketing areas in highly matrix-structured organizations. His research focuses on the use of comparative effectiveness research and cost-effectiveness analysis in health care decision making. His academic work has comprised authoring or co-authoring over 100 papers appearing in the medical and economic literature. He has presented his research at seminars and conferences both nationally and internationally. He is on the editorial board for "Pharmacoeconomics" and has served on numerous national and international health economics-focused boards and committees, including editorial, grant review and advisory bodies. Dr. Asche’s research is funded by a variety of state/federal agencies and health system providers. He received his PhD (Economics) from the University of Surrey and his MSc (Health Economics) from the University of York in the UK.
