CHAIR AND ASSOCIATE OR FULL PROFESSOR
DEPARTMENT OF PHARMACEUTICAL, SOCIAL, AND ADMINISTRATIVE SCIENCES

Samford University’s McWhorter School of Pharmacy invites individuals interested in serving in a Christian university environment to apply for the position of chair in the Department of Pharmaceutical, Social, and Administrative Sciences. This full-time tenure track position is a 12-month appointment at the rank of associate or full professor.

The primary responsibility of the chair is to elevate research and teaching within the department while supporting the vision and mission of the school, college and university. The chair provides strategic direction for the department that includes active and creative leadership in research and personal responsibilities for teaching and service. The chair is a member of the Executive Council in the McWhorter School of Pharmacy and reports directly to the dean. In addition to supervision of faculty and staff within the department, the chair is responsible for oversight and leadership of directors and the Pharmaceutical Sciences Research Institute.

The chair must have a Doctor of Philosophy degree in the biomedical, pharmaceutical, or social and administrative sciences. Additional qualifications that are strongly preferred include previous academic leadership experience, development and expansion of research programs, budgetary oversight, and a professional pharmacy degree. The chair must have evidence of substantial and sustained experience in research, teaching, and service sufficient to merit tenure and appointment at the rank of associate or full professor. Candidates must be willing to the support the university’s Christian mission.

The College of Health Sciences includes four schools: School of Health Professions, Ida Moffett School of Nursing, McWhorter School of Pharmacy, and School of Public Health. The college offers multiple degree programs and majors within the health sciences with an interprofessional education focus that reflects today’s team approach to health-care delivery and professional practice. College faculty will have special opportunities for cross-disciplinary collaboration. The McWhorter School of Pharmacy is organized into two departments, the Department of Pharmacy Practice and the Department of Pharmaceutical, Social, and Administrative Sciences. Pharmaceutical, Social, and Administrative Sciences consists of 19 full-time faculty members.
