The Duquesne University School of Pharmacy seeks to fill a renewable 12-month non-tenure-track faculty position at the assistant professor or instructor level to teach pharmaceutical and biomedical sciences courses. We seek an outstanding teacher who can contribute to the didactic effort in the on-campus and online pathways in the professional pharmacy program (PharmD). The hired individual will be expected to teach multiple topics from the following subjects:
- Pharmacology
- Pharmaceutics
- Medicinal Chemistry
- Pathophysiology and principles of drug action
- Clinical significance of the basic pharmaceutical sciences
Duties and Responsibilities include:
· Teaching in the on-campus and online pathways in the professional pharmacy program
· The applicant would be expected to be able to teach in at least 3-4 of the above listed areas, as well as potentially develop electives in more specific areas of interest.
· Proficiency teaching in a large class setting is expected.
· Participation in School and University committees will be required.
· Supporting student success through advising and coaching is also an expectation.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
· PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences or in a related discipline, or PharmD with MS and/or postgraduate training
Preferred:
Relevant teaching experience at the college or PharmD level and/or pedagogy training is viewed as an advantage. Preference will be given to applicants who have participated in the development of academic classes and/or curricula.
Alternately, the successful candidate may possess any equivalent combination of experience and training, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the essential job functions. Additionally, applicants must have demonstrated experience with, and understanding of, the broad diversity of the University community (students, faculty, staff and others).
