Tenure-Track Assistant Professor Position

The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences is seeking candidates for a full-time, calendar year tenure track faculty position at the rank of assistant professor. The ideal candidate will have research that is focused on molecular pharmaceutics, molecular medicine, or medicinal chemistry with translational potentials. Candidates with a background in molecular pharmaceutics, pharmacogenetics/ pharmacogenomics, molecular pharmacology and toxicology, or personalized medicine, broadly defined, are particularly encouraged to apply. Women and minority candidates are encouraged to apply. Candidates should have a PhD, MD, PharmD or equivalent, postdoctoral training, and a clear potential for future extramural funding. The successful applicant will teach in the degree programs within the School of Pharmacy and will contribute to the development of competency-based and active learning approaches to teaching (http://www.pharmacy.pitt.edu/).
The incumbent will be a member of the Center for Pharmacogenetics, which is within the department, represents a cohesive and collaborative group of investigators whose labs are well equipped to perform state-of-the-art basic and translational research. The Center and Department take pride in excellence in extramural funded research. Existing research programs and strengthens at the Center include gene regulation in drug metabolism and drug-induced liver toxicity, liver diseases, and metabolic syndrome; metabolomics; integrative cancer genomics and bioinformatics; pharmacogenomics of adverse drug reactions; rationale design of gene therapy and pharmacotherapy for the treatment of cancer and other diseases; and use of genetically engineered animal models.
