A Level B Postdoctoral Research Fellow is expected to make contributions to the research effort of the university, particularly at the postgraduate level and to carry out activities to develop her/his scholarly, research and/or professional expertise relevant to the profession or discipline.

This position is based at Main Campus, Bandar Sunway

Reporting line: The position reports to Head of School, School of Pharmacy

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Conduct literature reviews on epidemiologic, health systems, and health services research
2. Perform data cleaning, handling and analysis using SPSS / STATA / R
3. Perform epidemiologic surveys for communicable and noncommunicable diseases of public health interest in the Asia Pacific region
4. Assist in drafting research abstracts and manuscripts
5. Assist in preparation of presentations to various stakeholders
6. Assist in preparation of reports for the School’s public health research group and primary investigators
7. Extract data from existing databases and published literature
8. Manage projects from start to end (i.e. develop research objectives and study design, ethics and governance application, participant recruitment, perform data collection, extraction and collation, conduct data modelling, perform statistical analysis and engage and collaborate with various stakeholders
9. Support secretariat and administrative functions of the public health research group at the School of Pharmacy
10. Provide mentorship and guidance to students and junior members of the public health research group

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
Education/Qualifications
1. A doctoral qualification (PhD), preferably in epidemiology, public health, environmental health, biostatistics, data science, with relevant experience
2. Demonstrate a track record of published work in epidemiology or track record of completed consulting engagements with a focus on epidemiology
3. Proficiency in the use of data analysis software e.g. SPSS, STATA, R
4. Strong writing and critical thinking skills, as well as good communication and presentation skills
5. Demonstrated teamwork skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a diverse group
6. Demonstrated computer literacy and proficiency in the production of high-level work using software such as Microsoft Office applications and specified University software programs, with the capability and willingness to learn new packages as appropriate.
7. Experience with C++ or Python is highly desirable
