Expertise: The Hanlon lab studies macrophage function in biological microsystems including the peripheral and central nervous systems and tumor microenvironments. Delineation of mechanisms underlying neuro-immune communication and tumor-immune communication holds significant potential for identifying novel non-opioid therapeutic targets for the treatment of pain and may also shed light on exploitable pathways targeting tumor development.
